NitroCapt is a climate-tech company electrifying the world’s largest chemical processes, the nitrogen fertilizer process, using air, water and renewable energy as the only input. The result is not only the most sustainable nitrogen fertilizers, but also the most cost efficient – a true revolution! We need fertilizers in order to feed a growing population and nitrogen is the most commonly used plant nutrient. However, the nitrogen fertilizer industry today is fossil-dependent, and the CO2-emissions are at the same levels as the global aviation industry, 500 million tons yearly! Our award-winning solution provides a quick transition into a decarbonized nitrogen fertilizer industry with a business model that makes our customer more profitable than continuing with fossil-based fertilizers.

We are now looking for a CFO to drive the financing to reach and penetrate this 77 bn € market.

Position summary

The CFO will have overall responsibility for the company´s finance function, including ongoing reporting to the Board of Directors with a heavy focus on funding and financing (non-dilutive financing, venture debt, project financing, grants etc.). While day-to-day accounting is handled by another employee, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and planning forms a key part of the CFO duties.

Your responsibilities

The new CFO will have the following responsibilities and tasks:

  • Build and Lead: Lead our finance function, including accounting and consultants.
  • Strategic Financial Planning: Drive the company’s financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Risk Management: Perform risk analysis on liabilities and investments, deciding on investment strategies.
  • Fundraising Mastery: Lead fundraising plans, decide on investment strategies and assess capital structures, ensuring optimal cash flow for operations.
  • Performance Evaluation: Routinely review revenue cycle metrics, proactively addressing issues affecting overall performance. Prepare timely and accurate analyses, summaries and reports of financial data on the operating progress of the company
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with banks, financial institutions, VCs, and internal/external stakeholders to drive efficiency and innovation.
  • Team Leadership: Develop and supervise the finance team, contributing to the company’s overall success.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and company´s policies
  • Scalability: Set up and oversee the company´s finance processes, IT system – build solutions for scalable growth

Candidate requirements

The CFO should demonstrate the following experience, competences and skills:

  •  Proven work experience as a VP Finance/Finance Director/CFO or similar role in an internationally focused scaleups
  • Previous experience in funding/financing (preferably in project financing, non-dilutive financing, venture debt, carbon financing, grants etc.)
  • Previous experience in building up a finance function and building a team
  • In-depth knowledge of financial benchmarking, accounting, audit and tax compliance and other regulatory matters
  • Adept in fiscal management principles and processes
  • Established and tracked revenue goals, as well as funding/financing process, timeline and progress with Management Team and Board of Directors
  • Possess knowledge of tax laws as well as basic accounting issues (higher level overview)
  • Advanced degree or equivalent experience in relevant field (accounting, finance, economics, business administration etc.)
  • Excellent English language skills
