Airpelago

Regional Operations Manager Nordic

Airpelago is a Swedish drone startup that has revolutionized the inspection of power lines using drones. Founded in 2018, the company has experienced phenomenal growth, tripling its turnover in just two years. With ambitious plans for further expansion, Airpelago is poised to double its turnover in the coming years reaching €50M in turnover by 2030. In 2024 the turnover reached € 3M. Currently operating in Sweden, the company is aggressively expanding its reach to several countries across Europe, including the UK, France, and Germany. In 2026 the company will also start approaching the US.

We are looking for a skilled Operations Manager to take ownership of our day-to-day operations across the Nordic market. In this pivotal role, you will ensure smooth, efficient, and high-quality service delivery, while leading both our team of drone pilots and three project coordinators who oversee local projects across the Nordics.

This is a multifaceted position that blends people leadership, project management, and operational process optimization. You will manage resources, improve workflows, drive operational excellence, and ensure seamless collaboration across borders.

You will be a key point of contact between management, coordinators, and drone pilots—making sure projects are delivered on time, to specification, and in compliance with regulations. The role also offers significant growth opportunities, with the potential to advance into a senior regional management position.

While the role is ideally based in Gothenburg, you must be able to travel domestically and internationally within the Nordic region—sometimes at short notice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage three project coordinators across the Nordic market, providing guidance, feedback, and strategic direction to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Oversee and optimize daily operations in multiple locations, ensuring consistent service quality and operational efficiency.
  • Manage and motivate a team of 40 drone pilots, fostering a positive, high-performance culture.
  • Ensure all local and cross-border operations comply with relevant regulations and safety requirements.
  • Monitor project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation in collaboration with coordinators.
  • Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability of operations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement preventive measures to safeguard operations.
  • Travel as needed within Sweden and the Nordic region, with flexibility for occasional short-notice trips.

Required Qualifications:

  • Fluency in English and Swedish is essential; fluency in an additional Nordic language (preferably Norwegian or Finnish) is highly valued.
  • Proven experience in team leadership, including direct management of project coordinators or similar roles.
  • Strong background in project coordination and operational management—experience in aviation or drone technology is an advantage.
  • University degree is preferred but not mandatory; relevant work experience is key.
  • Solid technical aptitude and excellent computer literacy.
  • Driver’s license
  • Ability to work from the Airpelago HQ in Gothenburg.

Skills & Personality:

  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire teams across different locations.
  • Clear and effective communicator, both verbally and in writing.
  • Skilled at managing multiple projects simultaneously under time pressure.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, ownership, and accountability.
  • Entrepreneurial, solution-oriented, and adaptable to changing demands.

Why Airpelago?

  • Get to work with the latest technology within a sector that is seeing enormous growth. The drone industry has a bright future and drones are becoming an ever more integral part of our everyday lives.
  • Get to work with passionate colleagues with a strong drive.
  • Develop your skills: Real responsibility from day one. Together we create your personal development plan, based on your career goals, and give you the support and guidance you need to achieve it.
