To align with our vision of effectively meeting customer needs amid changing market trends, we are reorganizing our operations for greater efficiency and competitiveness. We are looking for a dynamic individual for the role of (Senior) Renewables Originator, reporting to the Director of Renewables Origination. Business Area (BA) Markets maximizes the value of Vattenfall’s portfolio by optimizing and dispatching, hedging, and sourcing for our assets and customers. We operate across Europe with around 500 professionals in Sweden, Germany, The Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Denmark. BU Customers supports Vattenfall and its customers in becoming fossil-free by offering power purchase agreements (PPAs) to operators of wind or solar parks and connecting customers to renewable electricity. We provide market access services to large customers and regional energy suppliers and connect demand-side flexibility of industry to stabilize the electricity grid.

Key Responsibilities

  • Originate new business in renewable energy markets aligned with Vattenfall’s strategy.
  • Identify deal opportunities focusing on mid- and long-term Renewable Energy Solutions, PPAs, Corporate PPAs, and Hydrogen offtake.
  • Originate, negotiate, and structure complex transactions with external parties.
  • Support large M&A Transactions and Divestment Cases.
  • Build and maintain relationships in the German and/or Nordic energy markets.
  • Lead the deal process from inception to completion.
  • Grow renewables business and execute asset strategy with Business Area Wind.

Qualifications:

  • Over 5 years of experience in the relevant power market, ideally in Renewables Origination.
  • Academic degree in technical or economical fields; Master of Science or higher preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the power energy market.
  • Proven track record of deal initiation to closing.
  • Good understanding of the hydrogen value chain.
  • Ideally familiar with investment banking and M&A transactions.
  • Resilient with a strong commercial sense; able to work independently yet thrive in a team environment.
  • Strong networker and able to build trust and engagement, both within the company and externally 
  • Strong commercial sense and a good understanding of trading, risk management, credit risk, back office and finance functions 
  • Willing communicator, able to co-ordinate the deal approvals process within Vattenfall
  • Able to work independently to originate and close deals, but nevertheless comfortable in a team environment
